Democrats are Supporting the Plan
According to 7News, Colorado's two Democratic U.S. Senators, Mark Udall and Michael Bennet expressed their support for Denver's bid to host the 2016 National Republican Convention in a letter to Republican National Committee Chairman Reince Priebus. Denver Mayor Michael Hancock and Democratic Governor John Hickenlooper shared their desire to host the convention. They shared that by the time the convention meets in 2016, there will be direct rail service between DIA and Union Station. They added that three new hotels have been built since the convention was held in 2008.
