Expert: Immigrants Stymied By Asylum Policy Change

An immigration expert in San Diego says most asylum seekers are now out of luck.  The University of San Diego's Everard Meade says that most of the claims for asylum come from just the type of violence ruled out by U.S. Attorney General Jeff Sessions.

On Monday, Sessions reversed an immigration court order that allowed domestic violence as a reason for granting asylum.  Meade says that the lack of any proposed alternatives in Sessions' ruling will leave most people looking for asylum in the U.S. at risk. Those denied asylum can still appeal in federal courts, but Meade says it's a complicated process that could be dependent upon where the appeal is filed.
