DANGER! The Colorado Legislature is in Session

“No man's life, liberty, or property are safe while the legislature is in session.” - Gideon J. Tucker

The Colorado Legislature has now resumed their 2021 session and HB 21-115 is a direct attack on the authority of County Commissioners. Seems as if some Legislators aren't too fond that some Counties have pushed back on COVID restrictions being pushed by Gov. Polis and unelected bureaucrats at CDPHE and County Health Boards.

Not sure how else to interpret this any other way than Legislators from the Denver/Boulder corridor aren't too fond of the smaller Counties in Colorado! 26 of 64 counties in Colorado would be affected by this new law.

Sponsored by RepresentativesCathy Kipp, D-Ft. Collins andKyle Mullica, D-Northglenn andSenatorsJoann Ginal, D-Ft. Collins, andKevin Priola, R-Henderson,House Bill 21-1115not only prohibits county commissioners from being on a county health board, it removes the authority of commissioners in small counties that do not have a board of health from designating the county commission as the board of health, even if a home-rule county’s charter authorizes it.
