Michael Lockwood has been appointed as the legal guardian of his twin daughters with Lisa Marie Presley, which now gives him authority to speak on behalf of Harper Vivienne Ann Lockwood and Finley Aaron Love Lockwood in an upcoming hearing over the late icon's multimillion-dollar trust, Page Six reports. This is reportedly "the last thing" Lisa Marie wanted, an insider told the news outlet.

He filed the petition back in March. A judge in Los Angeles granted the request Thursday (April 13) after Lockwood's lawyer said he was "ready, able and willing to protect their interests." The judge also asked whether Lockwood "had any pre-existing relationships with the parties involved in the case," to which his lawyer said he "has a good, collegial, familial relationship with all of the parties involved," the news outlet reports.

"He is not only legally bound but also morally bound to protect (the twins') interests," the lawyer added.

Presley had two life insurance policies at the time of her death; one for $25 million and one for $10 million. As for who will control the trust, there's "a lot of behind-the-scenes drama," TMZ reports. Lisa Marie reportedly removed her mother Priscilla Presley as a trustee, leaving her daughter Riley Keough as the sole trustee of the estate. Harper and Finley are listed as beneficiaries.

Lockwood has reportedly taken sides with Priscilla, "drawing battle lines" between the two against the Daisy Jones & The Six star. Priscilla is reportedly going to challenge the trust's validity, claiming that the switch was not properly made. Keough, however, does not want Priscilla to take control of the trust.

Previous reports suggest Priscilla and Riley are no longer speaking due to the estate battle, but Priscilla set the record straight and revealed they "are just fine."
