Former President Donald Trump criticized Judge Juan Merchan as he arrived at court for the second day of his criminal trial. Speaking to the media before entering the courtroom, Trump called the trial a "disgrace" and said the charges should have never been brought.
Trump is facing 34 felony counts of falsifying business records over hush money payments made to two women during the 2016 presidential campaign. He is accused of falsely claiming the reimbursements for the payments to his former Michael Cohen were legal expenses.
"He marked it down and said legal expense. That's exactly what it was. And you get indicted over that?" Trump continued.
"We have a Trump-hating judge," Trump added. "This is a trial that never should have happened. It should have been thrown out a long time ago."
Trump then lamented that he should be out campaigning for president instead of sitting in a courtroom for the next two months.
"I should be in Pennsylvania, Florida, in many other states," he added. "This is all coming from the Biden White House because the guy can't put two sentences together."
The trial is expected to last between seven and eight weeks and is currently in the jury selection phase.
