Today marks the first day of the 72nd legislative session. From the House gallery, the Democrats overflow into the Republican side of the chamber. Speeches were delivered by outgoing Speaker of the House, Crisanta Duran, incoming Speaker of the House, KC Becker, and Minority Leader Pat Neville. Oaths were taken and 65 members of the House of Representatives were sworn into office. Topics discussed by both party leaders covered affordable housing, education, cost of living, gun control, climate and environment, economy and budget.
One of my favorite quotes can be summed up by saying that character is revealed, not only in times of struggle, but in positions of power. Although Colorado now has Democratic control in the House and Senate, let's pray that the good people at the State Capitol can reach across the aisle and help Colorado improve.
