Breckenridge Cancels New Year's Fireworks Due To Environmental Concern

The Town of Breckenridge decided it is not going to have fireworks this year due to environmental concerns. It also canceled the Fourth of July fireworks celebration this year. According to ColoradoPolitics.com, Breckenridge spokeswoman Haley Littleton said,"The Town wanted to be consistent with the decision they made over the summer to cancel the 4th of July fireworks, in order to not disturb wildlife." Littleton is also quoted in the article saying, “The town of Breckenridge believes that there are better options moving forward to celebrate these holidays that have less of an environmental impact.” They will still have the annual torch celebration on New Year's Eve, not have decided to forgo the fire works.
